How to Make a Fat Quarter Potato Chip Quilt?

Hi Reader,

With HUNDREDS of 2.5" x 4.5" rectangles cut and ready to sew, my next potato chip quilt will be finishing up soon. Today's video focuses on how to make the super-sized potato chip block that I'm using in my newest quilt. This Super-Sized block is different as it begins with a larger center square and finishes at 16.5", larger than the 'usual' 12.5" block. It's a BIG timesaver!

This technique is perfect for panel quilts which is what I'm making. It's such a pretty group of panels and will look gorgeous together surrounded with rows of scrappy fabrics! In the meantime, check out this video so you understand how the super-sized block is assembled. You can even start making a few blocks yourself so you'll be ready to make your own quilt!

Panel fabrics are not usually my first choice. Primarily because I'm never quite sure how to use them. This potato chip quilt is a perfect way to showcase your favorite fabric panels. I'm even adding some favorite focal fabrics for the centers, too. If you're interested in looking at what panels are available to purchase, check out the link below. This is an affiliate link and I may receive a small commission for each purchase, but that will not affect your price.

Another great scrappy idea is to vary the size of your Potato Chip Quilt Blocks. This Christmas Fabric video below shows you three different sizes. The advantage is you can choose the best size rectangle that will use up the most of your fabric stash! Or mix up the sizes like I did in this video below.

Checking My To-Do List!

I'll be happy to finally finish this Super-Sized Potato Chip Panel Quilt! I'm adding some new techniques to this quilt that I think you'll definitely want to try. There's still lots of fabric waiting for my attentions. πŸ˜πŸ§΅βœ‚

My quilting has recently slowed down dramatically due to some unexpected schedule changes!

I injured my left shoulder a couple months ago. It wasn't a big problem at first, but then I found it difficult to sit at the sewing machine and computer. That really slowed me down. After x-rays showing no broken bones, my doctor recommended physical therapy. It's been such a big help already after only two weeks. There will be two more weeks to get my shoulder working as it should again! But as you can see, I'm back on the computer sending you an email.❀

We are blessed to have our grandkids staying with us for about a month. The ongoing heatwave is limiting our outdoor activities but we are having fun together nonetheless. With a multitude of activity and craft projects, we have plenty to keep us busy.

My quilting should be getting back on schedule soon. There's too much fabric waiting for my attention! I'm trying to stay on task and not get distracted with all the eye-candy on my shelf. πŸ˜‚πŸ§΅βœ‚
