Here's the 'secret' formula for my super-sized potato chip quilt block! This is a simple change that saves you so much time cutting and sewing. Even better, your finished block will be larger and filled with more scrappy fabrics! The 'Grand Finale' will debut soon once I get all the blocks assembled together. It'll be a beauty and I'm very excited to share this quilt with you! Just for FUN!Here are two quilt shops you'll love to browse through. I am not an affiliate for either of these shops and don't receive anything in return. But I know that many of you will find some amazing treasures here! First, is Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, VA: https://artisticartifacts.comβ We visited family last March and I had a chance to check out Artistic Artifacts. While they are a wonderful quilt shop, they also have an incredibly extensive collection of batik panels and mixed-media art supplies. It's an amazing shop to walk through just to see all the ideas shown throughout the shop. The shop merchandise is purchased from around the world showcasing beautiful artistic pieces you'll likely not find anywhere else. Be sure to check out their shop at the link above. Fortunately their shop is also online! If you sign up for their email list, you'll receive sale notices. Earlier this week I was able to purchase layer cakes at 25% off which is a great price! They should arrive in the next few days. Second, is the Fabric Place Basement. They have two locations. One in Natick, MA and the other in Alexandria, VA: https://www.fabricplacebasement.com/quilting-fabric/β This shop will definitely be a stop on my next trip up to visit family in MD. Many of you may not understand the full meaning of their name. In the mid-1900's (OMG, that is just too funny to say since I lived it!) my grandmother would take me into Boston to shop the Filene's Basement Sale. The idea being that last season's merchandise was hauled down to the basement and sold at great discounts. What I remember is the crowds of women around tables piled high with everything imaginable! Many were in various states of undress trying on clothes or clamoring across tables to get 'their' item. It certainly was an adventure. The Fabric Place Basement is similar but with fabric, and surely without screaming women running about! π€£ The store purchases large quantities of fabrics from other shops or warehouses and then reduces prices in their 'basement' store. You won't find the latest lines of fabric, but you'll find some old favorites and some you probably missed. That could certainly bring on an excited screech! Their prices are great and you'll surely find something you can't leave without. So next time you're in the Boston area, or are fortunate to live near Natick, be sure and stop by for a peek. Hi Reader, With JUST ONE Fat Quarter You can create this beautiful Potato Chip Quilt! It may be small but so very and pretty and practical. Plus it's a great way to get back into these 'addictive' quilts. I know I can never make just one! π My initial thought for this tutorial was to use an ugly fabric I avoid using.
