CHARM SQUARES to MASTERPIECE | Adapt this pattern to any fabric you love! ❀

Hi Reader,

Have you recovered from the hectic holiday frenzy? It's so hard not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. If feels good to begin 2026 with quiet calm. This week is off to an easy start for me. The grandkids visited this weekend and we had fun together. That means my new quilt isn't finished yet. It's a pretty spring floral layer cake pattern and it's looking awesome so far! Fingers crossed that it'll debut next week. 🌷🌼🌺

How about Valentine's Day? Once next week's quilt is finished I have some wonderful fabric for a lovely sweetheart quilt. It's still in the planning stages. I just need to decide what it'll be.

In the meantime, this video below features a wonderful idea for a Valentine's Day quilt. It's made with the Confetti pattern. The soft pink and rose colors are perfect mixed with the green fabrics. This is one of my all-time favorite color combinations.

It may be a new year, but it's not a new question: Which inspires you more, a fabulous quilt pattern or a stunning, spectacular fabric collection? As a scrappy quilter, for me it's all about the fabric! When I pull a pile of fabrics together the inspiration flies around in my head. It's hard to remember all the ideas that go through my mind, so I try to write them down when I can. Which is why my work table is surrounded with scraps of 'idea-notes'. Eventually they get transcribed into outdated calendars for easier reference.

The key is that I buy outdated planners which means the prices are marked down, even cheaper than lined journals. My current preference is the large 8" x 11" spiral bound books with beautiful, color-filled covers and pages. My favorites are the ones with lots of pretty pictures. Especially if it's watercolor art and florals!

The 2026 calendar prices are already being reduced and there are still plenty to choose from. Here are some of my favorites plus the Best Price I found for a planner. So take a peek and see if one inspires you to start putting your quilting ideas down on paper. It's the best way to get motivated when you need a quick idea to get started! If you enjoy looking at 'eye-candy' fabric, check these out, too!

One last item to share. Art Gallery Fabrics recently sent out an email with their newest fabrics. While they are all beautiful, the AGS Stillwater Fabric Collection is absolutely stunning. If you haven't visited AGS online, they have idea books for each line of fabric they sell. There are often free fabrics to download, too. Here the Stillwater Fabric Lookbook that shows lots of project ideas as well as multiple free patterns. Plus watch their quick tutorial for these beautiful Stillwater Linen Towels. If like me, you can't get enough, here's the AGS Stillwater Blog Post introducing the fabric line with closeups of each fabric. Such fun!

Here's a quick reminder about this month's Fat Quarter Shop Sales if you're looking for bargains. The daily flash sale had a couple items I ordered last week that just arrived. That's actually my new Valentine's Day fabric I'll be using! I can't wait to get started. ❀

Hi Reader, It was fun to make triangle quilt blocks that aren't HSTs! What a nice change. Thanks to all of you who watched last week's video! I enjoyed making it and I'm glad so many of you enjoyed it. There were lots of questions about the Square-in-a-Square block. Particularly the dimension to cut squares for the right size triangle, plus multiple assembly inquiries. I enjoy this feed back as it gives me the opportunity to share the info you need. In case you missed it, last week's video is...

Hi Reader, When it comes to the holidays, my primary rule is 'Keep It Simple'! While I may only follow it the first few months, it's a good rule. Until I see what else is out there to create and I want to make it all! πŸ˜‚ So I'm changing my approach this year. Use simple blocks that go together fast and easy! Here's how I'm deciding which blocks to choose. First, it must be a block I can easily make scrappy. This way I can use fabric I already have which saves me money. I prefer to buy my...
