FASTEST WAY to Turn Your Fabric Scraps into Awesome Scrappy Quilts!

Hi Reader,

Here's a scrappy quilt that has me very excited! You probably already know that I love these silly potato chip quilt blocks. They are fast and easy which makes them a great choice. But these are really my favorite because I can easily use a hundred or more different fabrics in a single quilt! Not that I did, but I surely could have. 😊 That may be my next goal! But first I want to add a border to this quilt to make it a bit wider. What do you think?

This quilt has been great fun to make. There are some tips I've figured out in making 15+ potato chip quilts. That's all included in this video. But had I gone into detail about all the different ideas, this video would have been over an hour long. So, I released a couple short videos while I was making this. They each are a bit more in depth. So check them out, I think you'll enjoy seeing a close up of the process.

First is the FAST and EASY Way to Cut Potato Chip Blocks for Your Scrappy Quilt.

Second is the How I Got 600 Quilt Pieces from Scraps!

You can also read all the details in my post How to Make the Fastest Potato Chip Quilt.

There are lots of gorgeous fabrics in this quilt. But the inspiration was the watercolor floral fabric I purchased from the Etsy Shop Spoonflower. This is the fabric used for the center of each block. It's filled with wonderful floral colors that become my color scheme.

33 Free Potato Chip Block Patterns

If you haven't had a chance to download this free pattern booklet, I'm including the link below. There are some fun designs that I'd like to make. You realize that 33 quilts is easily a full year of quilts for only the most dedicated! Not to worry, I won't make you watch 33 more potato chip quilt videos! πŸ˜‚

A special thank you to Pamela of the Sarnia Quilter's Guild in Ontario, CA. She shared the guild's, The Potato Chip Block Pattern Book, for me to share with my subscribers. I sent this out last year, but there are lots of new quilters joining us and I want them to also have a copy. There are 33!!! different PCB block layouts to try. This will keep all of us busy for quite some time. πŸ§΅βœ‚

Remember that these patterns use any block that is twice as long as it is wide. For example, a 2" x 4" finished bock is cut to 2.5" x 4..5"; a 3"x6" finished block is cut to 3.5"x 6.5". Have fun trying these wonderful patterns!

The next couple days will be quiet here. My husband just had his second cataract surgery. All went very well and we plan to take it easy so he can heal. He really wants a banana split, so we may have to treat ourselves this week.

There are more quilting plans on the horizon and some beautiful fabrics I want to dig into. I'm even getting excited for Christmas quilting already! That's because I brought home some pretty fabric though no idea what it'll be. What are are your favorite holiday quilts to make? Do you quilt gifts, too?

Until our next quilting adventure, enjoy your summer and look for some local quilt shows. It may be a bit early as they tend to be in the fall, but I'm looking forward to seeing what's being quilted out there.

We'll be visiting my sister in Phoenix in February. Luckily for me it looks like QuiltCon will be there again this year. Plus there's the Houston Quilt Show in early November. Let me know if any of you will be at either of these shows.

Many of you are also trying to keep cool as the heat blasts across those of us here in the US. I have a favorite drink I make that's very refreshing in this high heat. Mix some cran-raspberry juice with lemon-lime soda and a wedge of lime. It's fresh, sparkling with a tasty zest that brightens up everything! Enjoy!!

Have a great rest of your week!

Happy Quilting,

Hi Reader, It was fun to make triangle quilt blocks that aren't HSTs! What a nice change. Thanks to all of you who watched last week's video! I enjoyed making it and I'm glad so many of you enjoyed it. There were lots of questions about the Square-in-a-Square block. Particularly the dimension to cut squares for the right size triangle, plus multiple assembly inquiries. I enjoy this feed back as it gives me the opportunity to share the info you need. In case you missed it, last week's video is...
