Hi Reader, Happy Spring! π Our weather has been gorgeous and the spring flowers look beautiful. The perennial bed is enjoying the rain showers and showing lots of buds. It won't be long before there's lots of color. This is my favorite time of year. When I'm not in the garden, I'm playing with lots of beautiful fabric. This quilt began with a few fat quarters I bought on sale last summer. It's a very light and springy wisteria floral fabric that's just fabulous. When I saw them I realized there was a quilt in there that I needed to make! What started as a simple white background with some watercolor floral prints morphed into a gorgeous collection of potato chip blocks. Didn't see that original tutorial? You'll love this scrappy layout. The best part is that it uses only one 2.5" size block in lots of different colors. Think scrap pile! It just doesn't get any easier! Not enough scraps? Check out some jelly rolls - they are the perfect size and are on clearance for great prices! This tutorial below is for making these amazing potato chip blocks with the large center variation. The blocks look awesome and I'm so excited to see it quilted. PLUS, here's a video tutorial just released using the same piecing method showing how to make a mini quilt project with a single block. You can make it small like mine, and create a gorgeous table topper/aka hot pad. Here's a link to the Free Downloadable Tutorial and the post where you can read more. Or you can take it even further to make the block larger just by adding more rows for a table square or even a quilt! This is the stash buster to beat any other! So be sure to check this video out, too. Many quilters are very good about using their fabric as they quilt without acquiring lots of scraps. Some will even make smaller projects right after finishing their quilt so there's nothing leftover! While I'm totally impressed, that just doesn't work for me. I don't know if I love scrappy quilting because using so many fabrics together in a quilt results in a beautiful color-filled blend of fabric that makes me smile. Or, because I've never found the bottom of my scrap pile and just let it grow into a gorgeous bounty of possibilities. Just like a treasure chest! Yup, that sums it up for me! How about you? With that thought in mind, I'm doing a survey and polling subscribers about their scrappy habits. Please check out my Community Tab so you can add your scrap pile preference! Also, don't miss my latest post including the tutorial for making the Fastest Baby Quilt with just 100 charms! You'll really appreciate how easy this simple quilt goes together. Collecting fabric is definitely a benefit of quilting that we all enjoy. But if you're gathering more than you use, you may benefit from watching this video about using up lots of fabrics at once! You'll get some ideas about mixing up what you have into some great color combinations. There's a lot here to get some ideas circulating so take advantage and make a quilt. Whether it's small to place on the table or large to brighten up a room you'll be happy you did. Being creative keeps us smiling and enjoying every day more! I hope these fun quilt ideas gets you inspired to quilt! Thanks so much for following along. πΊπ»πΌ Have a great rest of your week!
