You'll Love this On-Point Scrappy Quilting GEM!

Hi Reader,

Here is the latest version of one of my top favorite quilt patterns ever! Below are my four different variations I've made over the last four years. Look at how amazing they are in so many different fabrics. The block pattern is a log cabin which is a very easy quilt block. It's also one of the most popular patchwork blocks among quilters for its simplicity and also because of it's historic significance. Its best attribute for me is that it's a perfect scrappy quilt that will use all my fabrics!

Of course the easiest option is to use a jelly roll as the strips are already cut. That's exactly how this quilt was made and it was a fast quilt to finish. The magic happens when the log cabin blocks become a quarter log cabin! Any idea how that happens? It's just the perfect quilting hack to get this beautiful quilt top.

My original version was made 4 years ago and is still the most popular variation of this pattern on YouTube. Check out my post and see all the details at Make A Scrappy Quarter Log Cabin Quilt. There are three video tutorials that show lots of extra detail that's not on my website post. The first scrappy log cabin tutorial shows a few 'regular' log cabin quilts I've made which may give you some fun ideas to try. Next, the second scrappy log cabin tutorial focuses on the assembly of putting this quilt on point. This is absolutely what makes this quilt such a showstopper! The third video demonstrates a simple quilt backing technique along with a very easy machine quilting pattern to finish your quilt. Definitely don't miss the scrappy binding!

My next quilt was made for Christmas with a wonderful fabric collection that looks awesome! You'll see a picture of this quilt at the bottom of the same post above. This quilt also has the perfect scrap buster for a log cabin quilt back. The scrappy pieced quilt back video will you give some wonderful inspiration for your next quilt backing challenge! You'll also see some great ideas for labeling your quilt, too.

My third super scrappy quarter log cabin was made for Valentine's Day and I love all the pinks, reds, and purple strips together. The first video, Log Cabin Block Transformation into a Scrappy Fat Quarter Quilt shows a detailed step-by-step demonstration for laying out an on-point quilt. This quilt also has a second tutorial video that focuses on how to machine quilt this pattern with a walking foot. The special treat here is the backing I used. It's actually another quilt top I made that was about the same size. These quilts were then joined with beautiful wavy line quilting it looked extra gorgeous!

There are plenty more log cabin quilt tutorials for you to watch. You can check out my YouTube Log Cabin Playlist that includes them all, or check out the reading list below.

Hi Reader, There are three quilt block techniques that always get quilters excited. First is a rag quilt, most likely because they are very easy and don't require traditional quilting. That makes them a perfect quilting-for-beginners choice. Second is the disappearing 9-patch. The initial block is a simple 9-patch which is then cut into multiple pieces and rearranged into some very interesting designs. Third is the potato chip block. It's definitely been a favorite of mine, too! The allure...
